Medical School Mission Areas

Our directory of Medical Schools comprises all schools of allopathic medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). On the introductory page, we provide an overview of the navigational pathways that direct users to a series of gateway pages relevant to the three prescribed mission areas of every academic medical center.

  • Education - The table for this Mission Area directs users to a school’s primary education portal, and also to key directories associated with this portal. Currently included are pathways to directories for: Academic Departments | School Faculty | Residency Programs | Fellowship Programs
  • Patient Care - The table for this Mission Area directs users to a school’s primary patient care portal, and also to key directories associated with this portal. Currently included are pathways to directories for: Affiliates | Locations | Providers | Services
  • Research - The table for this Mission Area directs users to a school’s primary research portal, and also to key directories associated with this portal. Currently included are pathways to directories for: Centers/Institutes | Clinical Trials | Core Facilities | Available Technologies

Does the directory contain regional campus locations?

In addition to denoting each school’s main campus, we also identify regional campuses, regardless of whether any academic, clinical or research units are published for these locations. (Main campuses are shown in parentheses when regional campuses are also displayed for a particular school.)

Why are school names truncated in the search results?

To preserve space, the directory displays a ‘short name’ for each school in the left-hand column of all tabular displays. However, the formal (long) name will be provided for delivery of custom data projects.

Why are only schools of allopathic medicine included in the directory?

Our directory will successively incorporate all schools of osteopathic medicine accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), and all schools of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
